自称の技術製品開発者、Jonathan Mitchell氏が、iOS 12.2 beta 4内でiPod touch（第7世代）のアイコンを発見したと主張しています。
HLipodは第6世代のiPod Touch、HLipod2は、まだ発売されていない第7世代のiPod Touchです。
第7世代には、iPhone XSやiPhone XRのようにホームボタンがありません。また、1月に開発者Steven Troughton-Smithが、iOS 12.2で 「iPod 9,1」への参照を発見しました。今回のアイコンと同様にiOS 12.2のiPodのアイコンには、Face IDまたはTouch IDは表示されていません。
